The Platypus Platy Collapsible Bottle fills an interesting niche -- it's flexible and collapsible rather than rigid. Made from polypropylene plastic that doesn't contain bisphenol A (BPA), the bottle is durable, light and folds when empty. Some sports enthusiasts prefer the Platy to heavier aluminum and plastic bottles. "When emptied, a Platypus takes up no more room than a single, folded-up section of newspaper," says Slate.com reviewer Laura Moser. Some reviewers note that it's hard to use the Platypus bottle with just one hand, and they note that liquid can slosh around when it's less than half full. If you prefer a rigid water bottle, reviewers also like the Nalgene Everyday Tritan On the Go (*Est. $12 for 24-oz. bottle) and the CamelBak Better Bottle (*Est. $10 for 25-oz. bottle).

The best review of the Platypus Platy we found is on Slate.com, where several bottles are rigorously tested. A slew of sports-enthusiast websites, including BackCountry.com and BackPackGearTest.com, also weigh in, as do owners posting at Amazon.com.
