- Saves on sink space
- Good water flow
- Six-month filter life
- May require professional installation
If you prefer a more elegant water-filtering solution than a faucet-mounted model like the PUR FM-9400 Faucet Filter (*est. $35), which can take up valuable sink space, reviewers say undersink models like the Kenmore Dual Undersink Water Filter 38454 produce better water flow and only need a filter change every six months or so. The downside is that this system may need professional installation, and requires space under your sink. This filter attaches to the cold water pipe; a separate, small faucet is installed in your sink. Replacement filters cost about $17 each. While the Kenmore model has been highly rated in the past, we found better reviews more recently for the Culligan US-EZ-4 Under-Sink Filter (*est. $80), even though the Culligan version is more expensive.
We found the best reviews of the Kenmore Dual Undersink Water Filter 38454 at Consumer Reports, which compares this water filter against others of its type. A similar Kenmore filter, the 38460, is discussed on NBC's Today Show.
