Amazing! Worth every penny!, November 19, 2009

I have had horrible skin irritation since moving to where I live now (south Texas coast). I noticed that I was always extremely itchy after showering and that I had spots on my skin that resembled some kind of excema, even though I had never in my life had any problems with my skin before. I also noticed that my skin cleared up completely after about three days of being away from home. I went to Europe twice and to California, and my skin cleared up and I had no more irritation while I was away, but upon returning my skin would break out again. It was then that I started suspecting the water. I found out that they put a LOT of chloramine in the water here. They advertised the fact that they were putting a lot of chlorine in the system because they couldn't control the bacteria, and the city's website says they use chloramine. I read about this filter and was so miserable from itching that I decided that trying it couldn't hurt. It is amazing! My skin cleared up completely after using this for about a week. It only lasted for a little over two months though, but they do say how much chlorine/chloramine is in the water affects the life of the filter, and there is a whole lot in the water here, so I'm not surprised. I am ordering another one, as my skin is starting to break out and I'm itching like crazy after my showers again. Well worth every single penny!

Shower Filter Vitamin C 100% Organic By Vitashower, October 23, 2009

Definately a piece of junk! I was willing to accept the fact that even with teflon tape the thing leaks on both the imput and output ends, no matter how tight you have the connections! It also gives the water coming out of the shower head a very unpleasant oder! It is cheaply made and a real disappointment! I put up with it for about six weeks, then threw it in the trash can! (Unfortunately I gave it a good rating too soon after I bought it, on another website) I have had great results with another product, from Aquasana filters. We purchased an under-the-sink filter from them and are very satisified!

softer water, August 24, 2009
I've only had this for a day or two... the water feels softer, and I don't seem to get as much dry skin as I used to. Whether or not this will continue or any other problems will develop I don't know.
I do know that this does make your shower head lower... The shower in fact, is less than an inch above my head. Perhaps they could have designed this a little bit differently.
Non believer, August 23, 2009

Perhaps I received a defective unit but I was extremely unhappy with this device. I have been using various shower filters for the last decade and have never experienced the problems that occurred with this unit. I will admit it was lovely for the first 3 weeks, however my shower always had a well water smell to it and for some reason mold became proliferate - I had to bleach/scrub my shower every 2 days. Mold has never been an issue in my shower with other filters. In addition, my skin began to show a slight yellow hue - great for my Blonde hair but not so great looking like a jaundice candidate. So, after the initial 3 weeks, at the end of my shower I would develop red welts that itched like crazy and my hair started to become dull and looked fried out - I don't even blow dry. As I'm not particularly fond of itching, I switched back to my other filter after the 2nd reaction. All itches, mold, and lifeless hair went away immediately. In conclusion, I'm not certain if I can believe in this theory for water filtration. Sad, as I really wanted to!

Put some Vitamin C in your water!, August 15, 2009

I installed this about 3 weeks ago and what a difference. Gone is the dry, lifeless, bodyless frizzy hair and dry skin. I had just assumed it was my diet or something that was causing the problem. It was my WATER. This filter neutralizes Chloramine, which is a tricky little combo purfication chemical made of Chlorine and Ammonia, that many localities put in water. It has a Chlorine smell and also a pungent smell and is very damaging to skin and hair. After the very first shower I could see and feel the body return to my hair and suppleness to my skin and it has only gotten better with continued use. Vitamin C combined with water indeed does neutralize the bad stuff that is added to public water. I am using the Vitashower with a low-flow 1.6gpm shower head. Obviously slowing the flow is using less water, but I think it is also maximizing the effects the Vitashower has on the water by allowing the water to be in contact with the filter longer as it passes through. Installing this lowered my showerhead too much so I did have to replace my normal shower arm an inexpensive boom arm type that lets me raise the shower head. While not light, the Vitashower also is not heavy and does not stress the boom arm too much. I highly recommend this one to those tired of their showers making them look ill.

This review of shower water filters recommends the Vitashower SF-1 because it uses vitamin C rather than carbon -- noting that carbon filters become ineffective when used with warm water. 2. Best Water

Based on information in this detailed comparison chart at a retail site, the Vitashower filter is one of the two best shower filters (out of eight). It doesn't drop the shower head as much as most shower filters, and filters out chlorine better than most.
