Reviewers agree that the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision produces significantly better video quality than any other webcam. However, they also agree that you pay a premium for such quality, and it may be overkill for some users. For much less, the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (*est. $75) is also highly rated and has face tracking and high resolution.
We weren't able to find any reviews of Logitech's current version of the QuickCam Ultra Vision webcam, the Ultra Vision Special Edition. We did, however, find a number of very detailed reviews for the Special Edition's predecessor, the QuickCam Ultra Vision. The subtlety of difference isn't reserved for the name alone – the only difference between these two cameras is that the QuickCam Ultra Vision Special Edition features a black casing, as opposed to the Ultra Vision's silver and white. Otherwise, the two webcams are identical and reviews of the QuickCam Ultra Vision can be applied to the Special Edition version. Tom's Hardware Guide directly compares it with four other webcams. Cowboy Frank.net compares it with the Logitech QuickCam Fusion.

This enthusiast website covers more webcams and is more up-to-date than any other review source. In this review, Frank Harell is overwhelmed by the video quality of the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision.

Scott Clark provides the most detailed review of the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision. It is superbly augmented with still images, screen shots, and videos. The review is non-comparative, but Clark has considerable experience reviewing a number of webcams, so there's a strong frame of reference.

Benny Har-Even regularly reviews webcams, which gives him solid credibility in asserting that the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision is the best he's tested. It earns the highest rating and a recommended designation. Price is an issue, however.

Pocket-lint is a prolific and up-to-date reviewer of webcams. Of the nine products reviewed in the past year, the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision has the best audio and video quality. Pocket-lint does a fine job of explaining the technological advantages and features of this webcam.
