March 2008. Reviewers agree that the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision produces significantly better video quality than any other webcam. However, they also agree that you pay a premium for such quality, and it may be overkill for some users. For much less, the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (*est. $80) is also highly rated and has face tracking and high resolution.

We weren't able to find any reviews of Logitech's most recent version of the QuickCam Ultra Vision webcam, the Ultra Vision Special Edition. We did, however, find a number of very detailed reviews for the Special Edition's predecessor, the QuickCam Ultra Vision. The subtlety of difference isn't reserved for the name alone – the only difference between these two cameras is that the QuickCam Ultra Vision Special Edition features a black casing, as opposed to the Ultra Vision's silver and white. Otherwise, the two webcams are identical and reviews of the QuickCam Ultra Vision can be applied to the Special Edition version. Tom's Hardware Guide directly compares it with four other webcams. CowboyFrank.net compares it with the Logitech QuickCam Fusion.
