The Linksys WRT400N offers simultaneous dual-band, dual-radio technology -- which allows it to operate on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands at the same time -- increasing range and reducing interference. Budget routers can't usually do this, but the WRT400N cuts costs by omitting a couple of major features. There's no USB port, so you can't plug in an external hard drive for your network to share; and the unit uses the slower, older 10/100 Ethernet rather than GbE. Oddly, the WRT400N beats the GbE-equipped Linksys WRT610N (Discontinued) in one major speed test, although another professional evaluation finds the opposite. Users say the WRT400N is easy to set up and dependable.
