TRENDnet TEW-631BRP 300Mbps Wireless N-Draft Router

- Speed
- Three-year warranty
- Traffic-priority controls
- Low price
- Opinions split on ease of setup
- No Gigabit Ethernet switch
The Trendnet TEW-631BRP is the best budget Wireless-N router in reviews, unless you plan to use the faster Gigabit Ethernet for wired devices. Losing this feature is the tradeoff for the lower price compared with the D-Link DIR-655 (*est. $95). The Trendnet TEW-631BRP has the same priority-mode controls that are offered on the more expensive D-Link DIR-655 router; this lets you give priority to online gaming or VoIP, where you want the most reliable throughput. We found a few complaints that setup isn't easy. But overall, reviewers recommend the Trendnet TEW-631BRP as the best budget pick among Wireless-N routers. If price matters more than speed or range, a router based on the older 802.11g standard, like the Linksys WRT54G2 (*est. $50), costs even less.
CRN.com has the best review of the Trendnet TEW-631BRP, although it is a little dated. Bit-tech.net conducts a very good roundup review in which the router performs well, but testing is less comprehensive. TechGage.com is more up to date and contributes some key comparisons with other popular units, as does Australia's PC Authority magazine.
