Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum, formerly Prevage Face Advanced Anti-Aging Serum (only the name and packaging has changed), is marketed as having the most powerful antioxidant available today -- idebenone. Experts say that a cocktail of several antioxidants, like what is found in Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum, Fragrance Free (*Est. $20 for 1.7 oz.), is likely to do a better job, however.
Is idebenone really more powerful than other anti-aging ingredients? Experts say that antioxidants are among the few ingredients proven to protect against environmental factors that lead to fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum is praised for containing idebenone, which is supposedly one of the more powerful antioxidants available. Paula Begoun is skeptical, though. She says that the research used to make such a claim is weak and only compares idebenone to a handful of antioxidants, although hundreds are available. The research also didn't compare the ingredient to a cocktail of antioxidants -- something that experts have long believed to be the best option. Begoun points out that several well-made products are available for a fraction of the cost.
Still, experts say Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum contains several beneficial ingredients -- namely glycerin, silicone, green tea and algae extract. Several users say that it leaves their skin luminous and noticeably reduces the appearance of fine lines. Experts point out, however, that all well-formulated moisturizers will temporarily plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines in the process. A couple of users at MakeupAlley.com agree, saying that any anti-aging benefits from Prevage are temporary and go away when regular usage is discontinued.
Luxuriously lightweight: Reviewers say that Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum is lightweight and feels luxurious on the skin. Several users say that it leaves their skin soft, but others complain of irritation to their sensitive skin -- likely caused by the fragrance in the formula.

Review Credibility: Excellent Paula Begoun gives Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum a high overall rating even though she dismisses many of the manufacturer's claims as bogus and over-reaching. She says that a cocktail of antioxidants is the best option, rather than one standout ingredient (idebenone in this case). The formula does, however, contain many beneficial ingredients for the skin, including glycerin, green tea, sodium hyaluronate and algae extract.
