Moisturizers
by Paula Begoun
Our AssessmentEditor Paula Begoun relies on scientific testing and research to rate and review thousands of beauty products in her online database. Wrinkle creams can be found under both moisturizer and exfoliant categories on her site. Begoun is critical of skin-care companies' outlandish anti-aging claims, but says some ingredients are better at reducing the appearance of wrinkles than others. Instead, she suggests that consumers base their purchases on ingredients, and says quality products can be found in every price range. While this website goes beyond the needs of the average consumer, it serves as a great resource to narrow down your choices.

Wrinkle Creams
by Editors of ConsumerReports.org
Our AssessmentConsumerReports.org's report on wrinkle creams is dated, but thorough. Each product was tested for 12 weeks by at least 17 women. Results reveal that some creams work better for some women than for others and that price has no bearing on effectiveness. Editors conclude that although some wrinkle creams do work, none of them banish wrinkles completely and even the best performers make only a barely noticeable difference.

Anti-ageing Cream as Good as Drug at Reducing Wrinkles
by Linda Geddes
Our AssessmentNew Scientist magazine, a British publication that focuses on scientific discovery, discusses the findings of a clinical test sponsored by Proctor & Gamble. The test compared the efficacy of a regimen of three Olay Pro-X products to prescription use of tretinoin. Participants used each regimen for eight weeks and several were then followed for an additional eight weeks. Olay Pro-X products are shown to have similar results to tretinoin -- both of which significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Unfortunately, the specific products tested are not named.

Anti-Aging Challenge
by Brooke Le Poer Trench
Our AssessmentSix women give up their daily facial routines to test six anti-aging treatments for 10 weeks. Results are measured with facial imaging equipment and analyzed by the testers and dermatologists. Some treatments had immediate and noticeable results while others had a greater impact beneath the skin that were not yet visible at the end of treatment. Dermatologists noted that several treatments would perform even better in combination with other proven methods. Interestingly, an expensive moisturizer didn't make much of a difference at all.
