This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Economy Cars which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What reviews like:
The Toyota Corolla is just a very good car all around. While reviews say it isn't sporty and doesn't offer a 'fun' aspect, the Toyota Corolla is one of the most practical, reliable, fuel efficient small cars you can buy. The ride is smooth and quiet, and seating positions are roomy. High resale/trade-in value is another bonus.

What reviews don't like:

According to critics, the 2007 Toyota Corolla is just not an exciting car. While the competition offers more interesting options and a more cutting edge design, Toyota keeps the Corolla conservative. Some reviews say the driver seat seems too soft, and others say the steering wheel may be too far away for some drivers. The fake wood grain trim is conspicuously fake.

EPA fuel economy estimate: 30 to 32 mpg/city, 38 to 41 mpg/highway, depending on engine

2007 Toyota Corolla review highlights

While the Toyota Corolla may not have the style or youthful exuberance of the Honda Civic (*est. $14,810 to $21,290) or the Honda Fit hatchback (*est. $13,850 to $15,170), reviews say its advantage is its best-in-class reliability. In many ways, the Corolla sits between the Honda Civic and Honda Fit. Power-wise, it's right in the middle. The 2007 Toyota Corolla doesn't offer a lot of options. For example, there's no option for an auxiliary audio jack, GPS navigation system or satellite radio, but if you want a sedate, mature, reliable compact car, reviews say the Toyota Corolla is excellent. Historically high resale/trade-in value is another plus.

The Toyota Corolla is one of the best selling cars in the country, and we had no trouble finding good-quality reviews for the 2007 Corolla. The best of these is from Car and Driver magazine, which includes the Corolla in a six-car matchup against its main competitors. Reviews at Cars.com, Kelley Blue Book and Consumer Reports don't compare the Toyota to other cars directly, but both sources note historical reliability data and resale value in their articles.

This is the best comparative review we found for the 2007 Toyota Corolla, which is evaluated alongside five of its peers. Editors say the Toyota Corolla is a reliable, predictable car with very good fuel economy. However, it's just not fun to drive. Editors don't care for the driver position and say the pedals are too close together. Some of the interior materials (e.g. the fake wood grain) are criticized.

Long-term reliability and high resale/trade-in value are the major strengths of the 2007 Toyota Corolla, according to editors at Kelley Blue Book. While buyers might be tempted to spend less on a Hyundai or Kia, editors say that most people will ultimately be happier with the reliable Toyota Corolla.

According to this review, the Toyota Corolla is "as good as smaller cars get these days." Staff of ConsumerGuide.com

At Consumer Guide, the Toyota Corolla isn't one of the recommended cars for 2007. The Corolla receives scores of 'average' in most respects. Overall, editors prefer the Honda Civic and Mazda3.

6. Edmunds.com
2007 Toyota Corolla
Editors of Edmunds.com

Edmunds.com called the Toyota Corolla the "quintessential economy car." The Corolla is just a reliable, conservative car with good resale value. While many of the reviews at Edmunds.com discuss performance extensively, this review does not.
