2007 Kia Sedona Review

(*est. $20,495 to $26,195)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Minivans which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Experts described the Kia Sedona as a "best value" minivan. One huge plus is the 2007 Kia Sedona's top safety ratings in government crash testing, along with its excellent lineup of standard safety features.

What the reviewers don't like:
Even though engine power is comparable, steering response isn't as crisp on the Kia Sedona as for the top-of-the-2007-market Honda Odyssey. Reviewers also observed that the interior isn't as refined or nicely constructed as the class leaders. Several reviews said the third-row seat isn't comfortable for adults since the cushion sits rather low to the floor. Historical reliability is below average.

2007 Kia Sedona review highlights

The Kia Sedona and its near-twin, the Hyundai Entourage (price when new: $23,795 to $28,795), are built on the same platform, offering similar performance and features. Both were named Top Safety Picks in 2007 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for their best-in-class crash-test ratings. Reviews concluded that neither 2007 minivan quite competes with the top-rated class leaders for the same model year, the Honda Odyssey (price when new: $25,645 to $39,095) and Toyota Sienna (price when new: $24,155 to $37,665), when it comes to handling, design and options, but reviewers easily identified the Kia Sedona as a best-value minivan. Owner satisfaction ratings for the Kia Sedona minivan are middling, and reliability is below average, which could translate to higher repair costs.

We found the most detailed review for the 2007 Kia Sedona at Edmunds.com, where editors evaluated it in comparison to the competition. The best recognition for the Kia Sedona came from Motor Trend magazine, which named the Sedona a finalist in its 2007 Car of the Year honors. Before 2007, a minivan had never made it to the finals of Motor Trend's Car of the Year competition. Although the Kia Sedona did not take the title, placing among the finalists is high praise. A detailed review follows, along with some casual comparisons to competing minivans.

Consumer Reports tested the 2006 Kia Sedona -- that was the debut model year for this version of the Sedona, and it remained essentially the same for 2007.
