(*est. $85)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Computer Mice and Trackballs which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Many users say the Kensington Expert Mouse is less stressful on hands than a regular mouse. The software contains options for using it left-handed.

What the reviewers don't like:
Some say the Kensington Expert Mouse is a bit slow to respond. Several reviewers got -- or thought they got -- defective units. The Kensington trackball mouse is expensive and costs more than just about any mouse.

Kensington Expert Mouse review highlights

While most users today prefer a mouse, other pointing devices, such as the Kensington Expert Mouse optical USB trackball, still are favored by some. One reason is that experts say that they are less likely to cause repetitive stress injuries. Although the Kensington Expert Mouse scores fairly well with users and reviewers, most instead give a slight nod to a different trackball, the Logitech Cordless TrackMan Optical (*est. $60).

We found lots of reviews of the Kensington Expert Mouse optical USB trackball. Because the trackball has been available for a while, however, many of the reviews are dated and most are not comparative. The most current professional review comes from an unlikely source -- CounsellingResource.com, a website devoted to mental health -- where the Kensington Expert Mouse is evaluated as a way to reduce repetitive stress injuries. The high quantity of user reviews at Amazon.com makes this site an excellent source for buying guidance on the Kensington trackball mouse.

Kensington Expert Mouse (Wireless) Review
May 2005

Reviewer "D4V" mentions previously reviewing a Logitech trackball, but makes no comparisons with the Kensington Expert Mouse. The reviewer notes that it takes some time to get used to using a trackball and that the original one had to be replaced after one week because of frequent lockups. Still, the Kensington Expert Mouse is recommended.
