This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Computer Mice and Trackballs which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Reviewers especially like the software that comes with the Razer Copperhead, which provides for customizable controls. The software and the firmware are updatable. The Razer Copperhead corded gaming mouse is light, precise and fast. Reviewers like the grip and feel. The cord is long, with a gold-plated USB connector.

What the reviewers don't like:
Some reviewers love the Copperhead's glow-in-the-dark lighting; others find it annoying. The software has a learning curve. Reviewers have several complaints about buttons, including the desire for more. The price is high. Some reviewers -- and users -- prefer wireless mice to the corded Razer Copperhead gaming mouse.

Razer Copperhead review highlights

The Razer Copperhead is a high-end gaming mouse. Reviews say that while it is very good, other alternatives, such as the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (*est. $45), might be better overall. One practical issue is that the Razer Copperhead is symmetrical, which means it can be used by left-handed or right-handed people. However, neither group will find it as comfortable as a mouse that's contoured to fit a particular hand.

We found the best reviews of the Razer Copperhead corded gaming mouse at Techtree.com, Virtual-Hideout.net and HardwareLogic.com. Testing and documentation are exceptionally good. Reviews at EverythingUSB.com and ThinkComputers.org of the Razer Copperhead are nicely balanced and add comments worth considering. Hi-TechReviews.com's report is supported by comprehensive testing, but the rave review is just like all others on that site.

Razer Copperhead Reviews
*In order of credibility (see our Ratings Criteria).

1. Techtree.com
Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse Review
Punit Lodaya
Aug. 2, 2006

Techtree.com's review makes a key comparison between the Razer Copperhead gaming mouse and the Logitech G5. Though this review is not as comprehensive as some others, it is otherwise outstanding.

2. Virtual-Hideout.net
Razer Copperhead High Precision Gaming Mouse Review
Grant "Millsy" Mills
Dec. 4, 2005

PC news and reviews website Virtual-Hideout.net reviews a dozen currently available mice. This review is directly comparative and concludes with a list of pros and cons. Grant Mills sheepishly apologizes for his love-at-first-use response to the Razer Copperhead gaming mouse, and thoroughly documents his testing.

3. HardwareLogic.com
Razer Copperhead Mouse Review
Paul Lilly
Aug. 23, 2006

HardwareLogic.com is a computer enthusiast website oriented to beginning do-it-yourselfers. This review isn't directly comparative, but HardwareLogic.com's rating system is divided into six weighted subcategories, and reasons for each subcategory rating are documented. The review is illustrated and supported by practical testing. Finally, HardwareLogic.com links to other good reviews.

4. EverythingUSB.com
Razer Copperhead Review
Scott Clark
Nov. 28, 2005

This review of the Razer Copperhead at EverythingUSB.com is practical, detailed and wonderfully illustrated with photos and screen shots. Testing is inspired. However, this review makes no comparisons with competing products, and products aren't rated or ranked. Nonetheless, the conclusion makes some key distinctions.

5. ThinkComputers.org
Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse Review
Kristofer "Dracos" Brozio
Oct. 22, 2005

This review is unusually well balanced for ThinkComputers.org. The Razer Copperhead is one of the few mice the site doesn't think is perfect, which adds power to the review. Testing is limited to a week's use, and the reviewer has difficulty adjusting from a now discontinued Logitech MX1000 cordless mouse.
