Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro Review

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Webcams which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Reviewers like the compact design, portability, and easy mounting of the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro webcam, which is designed for laptop computers (PC only). Picture quality of still images and video are both good. Echo cancellation improves sound clarity. It has a face-tracking feature, and is easy to set up and use. Most reviewers favor this model over other laptop webcams, even those that cost more.

What the reviewers don't like:
Several reviewers say the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro doesn’t easily attach to laptop screens. Colors can be way off; one reviewer shows and complains about shots of his blue face. Software is controversial; some reviewers like the unessential features -- such as the Video Effects software that lets users create an avatar that tracks movement and facial expressions -- while others call them gimmicky.

Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro review highlights

Although critics prefer the performance of the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision (*est. $100) and Logitech QuickCam Fusion (*est. $65), they say that the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro is the best you can get if portability is an issue. This Logitech laptop USB web camera is just for PC notebooks, with a spring-loaded clip that clamps to most laptop screens. Although some other laptop webcams come close in performance, the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro gets slightly better reviews and costs less.

We found many reviews of the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro webcam, but since Logitech has revised this webcam without changing the name, older reviews are less useful. Everything USB.com and Cowboy Frank.net illustrate their reviews with photos from the webcam and screenshots that show the software interface. About.com and Laptop Magazine provide short reviews with ratings, but provide no illustrations or context. You can find a fair amount of user feedback for the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro at CircuitCity.com

Laptop’s single-paragraph review is as comprehensive as such a short review can be, but it doesn’t cover enough, and doesn't compare the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro to any others.
