What the reviewers don't like:

Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks review highlights

Logitech makes three portable laptop webcams in this line. The Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks is the entry-level product, topped by the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Deluxe (*est. $55) and Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Pro (*est. $65). This is a brand new model, but it bears the same name as its predecessors -- this is at least the third version of this budget webcam without a name or model change of any kind. Reviews and user feedback are thus are limited, but reviews of the older version are more plentiful. Improvements include enhanced audio noise suppression and a snapshot button. The more expensive Logitech laptop webcams get better reviews overall.

Even the best review sources give too little attention to budget or entry-level products, and the Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks (*est. $40) is a victim of that. Logitech complicated the issue by revising the product several times -- most recently in April 2007. Only one review -- at Notebooks.com -- directly address the newest version of the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks, and there is not yet much owner feedback for it. However, improvements appear modest and there are lots of reviews for the older version.

Review: Logitech QuickCam Stinks
Ralph Grabowski
Dec. 6, 2006

The Internet is a great place to express buyer’s remorse or rant about a disappointing product. This blog is a perfect example. Ralph Grabowski begins by complaining about the packaging and never relents in this review for the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks. He complains about the lack of backlight compensation (while admitting the software might have controls), but is unaware that he bought an entry-level product that lacks the capabilities of better webcams.
