1.  CNet.com Top Bluetooth headsets

Editors of CNet.com

Dec. 6, 2007
reviews rating CNet.com does not typically conduct product roundups, but here, editors list the highest-rated Bluetooth headsets in individual reviews. Links lead to full writeups, and comparisons to other headsets are made. Each product is also given a rating, which makes it easy to compare headsets. The Aliph Jawbone receives the highest rating by far. Its design is praised, along with sound quality and comfort. Other Bluetooth headsets that are called "excellent" include the Sound ID SM100, Cardo S-2, Plantronics Voyager 855 and Jabra BT8010. The latter two models have the capability to produce stereo sound, while the Cardo S-2 is a stereo headset designed primarily for music players or cell phones that support stereo sound.
2.  PC Magazine Bluetooth headset reviews

Editors of PC Magazine

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Although some of these reviews are dated, PC Magazine has an adequate collection of Bluetooth headset reviews. Ratings are based on a scale of 1 to 5, with top picks receiving an Editors' Choice rating. Reviews are detailed and lengthy, noting both pros and cons of a particular model. Three products among those listed receive an Editors' Choice rating: the Aliph Jawbone, the Plantronics Voyager 520 and the Plantronics Voyager 510.
3.  Consumer Reports Bluetooth headsets: Buying advice

Editors of Consumer Reports

Jan. 2008
reviews rating Consumer Reports rates 26 Bluetooth headsets in its January 2008 edition. Recommendations are separated into two categories. Comfort and voice quality are two of the most important considerations when purchasing a Bluetooth headset, say editors. Interestingly, one of the lowest-rated models here scores very highly in reviews at other publications.
4.  Slate.com The best Bluetooth cell phone headsets

Laura Moser

Oct. 4, 2007
reviews rating Slate is a daily web magazine which is owned by the Washington Post Company. In this article, Laura Moser gives us the rundown on eight Bluetooth headsets, citing form and function, sound quality, and value as her criteria. The Plantronics Voyager 520 leads the pack as best overall headset, with the Nokia BH-803 and BlueAnt Z9 finishing next. The Samsung WEP410 comes in dead last, due to poor design which doesn't properly secure it to your ear, along with a low score for value.

5.  Which.co.uk Bluetooth Headsets

Editors of Which.co.uk

Oct. 31, 2007
reviews rating Which? is a UK-based magazine and website with a methodology similar to Consumer Reports. Since this is a UK-based publication, not all of the 23 Bluetooth headphones reviewed here are available in the U.S. Good sound, comfort, and ease of use are the primary means of ranking. Currently, seven models are listed as Best Buys. The Aliph Jawbone, a top-rated model at other sites, is not reviewed here.
6.  WMExperts.com Bluetooth Headsets

Editors of WMExperts.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Windows Mobile Experts is a site dedicated to products utilizing the mobile edition of the Windows operating system. A number of Bluetooth headsets are reviewed here in-depth, with an overall rating provided at the end of each. About ten reviews are newer than a year old and are relevant to current product models. The Aliph Jawbone, Jabra BT8010 and BlueAnt Z9 are liked most, with each receiving the highest rating. The Aliph Jawbone is called the best noise-cancelling Bluetooth headset on the market.
7.  Treonauts Treo Bluetooth Headset Reviews

Andrew, Editor at Treonauts

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Treonauts is a blog that centers around everything Treo (a smartphone). A section is dedicated to analyzing the available Bluetooth headsets for use with a Treo. Although each headset is covered individually, they read more like one big product roundup since many comparisons are made. In the review for the BlueAnt V12 LCD, Andrew (no last name given) includes a chart of his five favorite models: the Aliph Jawbone, Jabra BT5020, Motorola H700, Jabra JX10 and the aforementioned BlueAnt.
8.  Choice.com.au 12 Bluetooth headsets under $100

Editors of Choice.com.au

July 2007
reviews rating Choice is the largest consumer organization in Australia. Like Consumer Reports, they are a not-for-profit organization. In this roundup, 12 headsets are tested by pairing them with two recent-model cell phones. The Plantronics Voyager 510 receives the highest score, with the Plantronics Explorer 340, Sony Ericsson HBH-PV705 and Sony Ericsson HBH-610a also recommended. Even though the Voyager 510 is the top-rated product in the test, its battery life is said to be highly variable.
9.  iLounge.com iPhone Headsets -- Bluetooth

Jeremy Horwitz, Editor at iLounge.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating iLounge.com specializes in reviewing accessories for the iPods. Nine headsets are reviewed here for use with the Apple iPhone. Detailed writeups are provided for each reviewed model, with aesthetics, sound quality and battery life given special attention. 10.  Digital Trends.com Cell Phone Headsets

Editors of DigitalTrends.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Digital Trends largely specializes in reviewing electronics. The list of Bluetooth headsets is dominated by user ratings, but there are a few detailed editorial reviews. However, only a small number of those are new enough to be considered relevant. Among those receiving an Editor's Choice rating are the Plantronics Voyager 520, Aliph Jawbone and Jabra JX10. Digital Trends ranks the JX10 highest, noting the elegant balance of design, sound clarity, simplicity and functionality.
11.  MobileTechReview.com Bluetooth headset and hands-free car kit reviews

Tong Zhang

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Mobile Tech Review contains a number of reviews. However, many of them are older than a year, minimally useful with fast-moving technology. Two Bluetooth headsets are given an Editor's Choice rating, but these reviews date back to 2004 and 2005. The reviews themselves are fairly in-depth, with special attention given to design, features, sound quality and battery life. Editor's ratings are based on a 5-star scale, with several current Bluetooth headsets receiving 4.5 stars. These include the Aliph Jawbone, the Plantronics Pulsar 590A and the Motorola H700. The Sound ID SM100, which CNet.com rates favorably, only receives 2 stars here, due to short range and ineffective noise reduction.
12.  Infosync World.com Bluetooth Headsets Reviews

Editors of infoSyncWorld.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Eleven Bluetooth headsets are individually reviewed and rated on this technology review website. The reviews themselves are fairly short, with three key criteria examined: design, sound and calling/setup. Over half of the models listed were tested over a year ago, and some inconsistencies exist throughout the site (the Nokia BH-800 is not listed even though it is given a score). The Aliph Jawbone and Samsung WEP200 share the highest rating. The Plantronics Discovery 655 gets a low rating due to subpar call quality and battery life.
13.  IGN.com Audio Gear Reviews

Editors of IGN.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating IGN.com is a gaming network that provides reviews on gear for the primary use of gaming. Two Bluetooth headsets are given detailed reviews -- those being the Aliph Jawbone and Motorola HT820. The Motorola is a stereo model, while the Jawbone is not. The two are not directly compared, but the Jawbone gets the higher rating for outstanding noise-cancelling technology, while the Motorola HT820 gets a lower editor's rating, with price and comfort cited as some of its downfalls.

14.  Information Week Review: Three Cool Bluetooth Headsets

Daniel P. Dern

Apr. 7, 2007
reviews rating This small roundup compares the Aliph Jawbone, Gennum nX6000 and Plantronics Discovery 655. Unfortunately, reviewer Daniel P. Dern doesn't ultimately declare a winner. Dern says that any of the three "beats the heck out of trying to keep up a conversation holding my cell phone up to my ear." One note is that sound quality on the Plantronics is not as good compared to the other two.
15.  The Travel Insider Reviews of Bluetooth Headsets

Editors of TheTravelInsider.info

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating This travel-centric website includes a list of seven headsets with feature charts. Each item in the chart has an accompanying comment, which makes up the bulk of the review. Most products are recommended, with the Jabra BT125 being the best value. The Motorola HS800 is the only headset that is not recommended, as it didn't work with either of the test phones.
16.  BlueTomorrow.com Bluetooth Reviews

Editors of BlueTomorrow.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating BlueTomorrow.com covers all things Bluetooth. About ten headsets are reviewed here, but nothing indicates which models are considered best. The reviews are fairly comprehensive, but models are rarely compared and all that exists at the end of each review is a short pros and cons list. BlueTomorrow.com can be extremely useful to one who doesn't understand what Bluetooth is or how it works, as there is an extensive section on learning about Bluetooth.
17.  The Gadgeteer.com Bluetooth Headset

Julie Strietelmeier

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating The Gadgeteer is the self-proclaimed "best source of gadget and gizmo related reviews on the net." All of the reviews are prepared by Julie Strietelmeier, who runs the site. While they are fairly comprehensive, reviews fail to extensively compare models or provide a rating system for the reader to do so. A nice feature, however, is that Strietelmeier sometimes provides the reader with audio clips so that sound quality can be heard. This can be very helpful for personally deciding which headset is liked the most. In her review of the Aliph Jawbone, she says that it is her favorite headset, citing its noise-cancelling technology.
18.  Consumer Guide.com Cell Phone Accessories Reviews

Editors of ConsumerGuide.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating Consumer Guide, a subsidiary of HowStuffWorks.com, has reviews on a number of Bluetooth headsets. An "expert rating" is given on a 1 to 5 scale. Those that receive top honors are noted as Consumer Guide Best Buys. However, these ratings are not explained and it is uncertain how they are reached. Best Buy headsets include the Cardo Scala 700, Cardo Scala-Rider, Jabra JX10, Logitech Mobile Freedom, Plantronics Voyager 510 and Plantronics Discovery 640. But with little evidence of testing and no clear explanation of how ratings are made, this site is not very useful.
19.  Amazon.com Bluetooth headsets

Contributors to Amazon.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating User-submitted reviews can be a valuable tool in researching Bluetooth headsets. Although they don't have as much weight as professional reviews, any major product flaws can be exposed by sifting through a collection of user critiques. Some headsets here receive over 1,000 owner-written reviews. Interestingly, most headsets receive a similar average rating.
20.  Newegg.com Bluetooth headsets

Contributors to Newegg.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating User reviews are collected in a fashion similar to that of Amazon.com. Newegg.com is an online retailer of electronics, and its users are generally more knowledgeable here about Bluetooth headsets than they are at some other sites that collect user opinions.
