What the reviewers like:
According to reviews, the Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U has the deepest blacks of any non-CRT display, darker even than the best plasma TVs. Off-angle viewing is better than most LCD TVs, making the Sharp LCD TV a good choice for a family room. Critics also like its easy-to-use, backlit remote and great connectivity options. Additionally, the TV's styling is a highlight -- particularly its detachable, bottom-mounted, slim speaker bar. What the reviewers don't like: The Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U suffers from uniformity issues that show up as alternating light and dark strips in some testing. Reviews also say the color temperature can sometimes be off, and there aren't as many picture controls as the competition in this size and price class. Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U review highlights The 52-inch Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U is one of the larger LCD TVs available, and reviews say it generates blacks that are deeper than any other flat-panel TV -- including the best plasma TVs. However, critics say the Sharp LCD TV is held back by a few issues. First and foremost, users and reviewers have noted image banding that’s hard to overlook. In addition, there have been reports that the Sharp LC-52D92U doesn't do a great job deinterlacing video from DVDs. The Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR2 (*est. $4,600) is one of the few other LCD TVs in this size class. The Sony has generally received better reviews than the Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U, but it is more expensive, and reviewers say black levels are not quite as deep. CNet.com is the best review source for the 52-inch Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U. The site reports on lots of LCD TVs, subjecting each to a standard battery of tests. Since each LCD TV gets an overall rating, it's easy to compare each model with similar TVs. PC Magazine also does a nice job and provides editors’ ratings making it easy to compare TVs. However, PC Magazine editors don't cover nearly as many TVs as CNet.com. We also found a good bit of user feedback for the Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U at AVSForum.com and Amazon.com.
