Sony BRAVIA KDL-23S2010 Review

(*est. $800)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on LCD TV which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
The 23-inch Sony BRAVIA KDL-23S2010 is one of the few small-screen TVs to include the now mandatory digital tuner, which means it won’t become obsolete when analog broadcasting ends in early 2009. It handles fast motion better than most LCD TVs and excels at displaying video games. Generous connectivity is provided, including an HDMI input. Reviews also indicate that it has nice audio quality and features for a small-screen LCD TV, including freeze frame.

What the reviewers don't like:
The 23-inch Sony BRAVIA KDL-23S2010 is very expensive for a small screen TV. The PIP (picture in picture) feature is missing, but on a screen this small, most reviewers don't see this as a big drawback.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-23S2010 review highlights

Although feedback is limited, reviews so far for the 23-inch Sony KDL-23S2010 are generally good. Strong points include generous features for a small screen LCD TV. Reports say that the KDL-23S2010 also does a great job of displaying video games and has an easier time with fast motion than most LCD TVs. The big downside is the high price for a screen this small. If you get all of your TV from cable or satellite, you won't be affected by the digital-tuner issue. In that case, you might also consider picking up one of the many small-screen TVs that lack a digital tuner. Those TVs will remain on retailer's shelves until sold out.

Because of the government mandate (effective March 2007) that all new televisions must include a digital tuner, there aren't many small TVs in compliance right now, and few of the currently available models have been reviewed. (For more information on this mandate, see the main ConsumerSearch report on LCD TVs.) One exception is the 23-inch Sony BRAVIA KDL-23S2010 (*est. $850), which has received at least one review at ConsumerGuide.com, plus some user feedback. ConsumerGuide.com isn't a very thorough review source compared to Consumer Reports or CNet.com, but since its association with HowStuffWorks.com, it has been improving in credibility.
