What the reviewers like:
The Toshiba 32D47 is one the least expensive 32-inch TVs available from a major manufacturer. While the picture quality falls short of that of higher ranked standard definition sets, it is stil good overall. The sound system is good overall, and owners like the StableSound feature, -- which evens out sound levels to combat too-loud commercials. There are enough inputs and outputs to make it easy to integrate the Toshiba TV into a home entertainment system. What the reviewers don't like: The Toshiba 32D47 is almost devoid of features aside from its QAM-compatible digital tuner and the stable sound function. The picture tube is an old-fashioned curved design. Picture tubes in higher rated TVs use an essentially flat design to reduce glare and reflections. Like all CRT TVs, the Toshiba 32D47 is large and heavy. Toshiba 32D47 review highlights The 32-inch Toshiba 32D47 lacks much in the way of features, and its picture quality is clearly a notch below that of similar but higher rated sets, such as the JVC AV32F577 (*est. $545). However, critics report that it delivers a reasonably good picture at a low price for a 32-inch TV from a brand-name manufacturer. The sound system is good -- but not great -- and includes simulated surround sound and Toshiba’s StableSound function, which levels out changes in volume regardless of the program material. While the set has a digital tuner and can receive HD programming, it can only display that programming in standard definition. Because of declining popularity, very few professional reviewers still cover conventional CRT-based TVs. Consumer Reports is a notable exception, however their most recent report is now significantly out of date. That said, the magazine did test the 32-inch Toshiba 32D46, which is an older, but essentially similar model the newer Toshiba 32D47 (*est. $350). The article meets Consumer Reports’ usual rigorous standards, but discussion about individual TVs is limited to just a few lines. The Toshiba 32D47 has received only limited user feedback, but what we’ve seen so far is positive. Also see full report: Televisions *In order of credibility (see our Ratings Criteria).1.
