Online retailer Amazon.com gives users a chance to weigh in on their opinions about TV-DVD player combos that they own. While the reviews can vary greatly in quality and length, some are quite good and informative. One negative is that there are many discontinued models included, so navigation can be tedious. The current combination TV-DVD players earning the highest ratings include the Toshiba REGZA series. The 32-inch Toshiba REGZA 32LV67U gets lots of feedback and perfect or near-perfect ratings from most users. For smaller spaces, the 15-inch Toshiba 15DLV77 also rates highly. However, opinions are split regarding the 19-inch Toshiba 19HLV87; some are disappointed with the TV's quality and usability. Instead, users point to the Sharp LC-19DV22U as a better choice in a 19-inch screen size. Though it has fewer reviews than the Toshiba 19HLV87, owners are uniformly happy.

Circuit City also lets users rate the TVs they have purchased. The site has advantages and disadvantages compared with Amazon.com. All of the TV-DVD player combos are current -- though some are marked “outlet,” meaning that the store will soon no longer carry them. Reviews are shorter but more structured, with ratings supplied in areas such as picture quality, sound quality, features and cost-benefit, along with an overall rating. The TV-DVD combo player with the most feedback is the poorly rated Polaroid 1913-TDXB. Reliability seems to be a sore point with this 19-inch LCD TV-DVD player. Buyers here are also more critical of the Sharp LC-19DV22U than at Amazon.com, with several complaining that it is very slow when changing channels. The Sylvania LD320SS8 32-inch LCD TV-DVD player combo gets the highest rating overall, but only limited feedback.

User reviews at Best Buy have strengths and weaknesses compared to those at other retailer sites. There's neither the breadth of models found at Amazon.com nor the sub-ratings for picture quality, etc., found at Circuit City. However, most include top-line assessments of pros and cons, as well as a bottom-line assessment of whether or not the reviewer would recommend the product to a friend. In addition, navigation is easy since Best Buy places both the rating and the number of reviews each TV-DVD player combo has received right on the main page. Among current offerings, the TV-DVD player combos with the highest ratings are also the ones with the least feedback. Current offerings with the most feedback -- including the house brand Insignia NS-LTDVD19 and Westinghouse SK-26H590U -- get only so-so ratings.

PriceGrabber.com is a comparison shopping service that gathers prices from around the Internet. In addition, it offers a place for users to give brief reviews of equipment that they own. Each write-up contains strengths, weaknesses and a summary. Like Amazon.com, there are lots of discontinued models here, and the user ratings are not quite as detailed. Toshiba TVs dominate the top of the rankings. The Toshiba REGZA 32LV67U seems to be a standout with the best ratings and most reviews of all.

Wal-Mart does not offer much selection when it comes to TV-DVD player combos, but its reach as a retailer is reflected in the fact that what's there gets plenty of feedback. The reviews themselves are generally short, but offer sub-ratings as well as information about how long the reviewer has owned the product and how often it is used. The RCA L26WD26D and L32WD26D score well, though sound quality is a frequent complaint.

While Sears also gives buyers the opportunity to weigh in on TV-DVD player combos, relatively few have bothered to date. Sears does require reviewers to provide sub-ratings for performance, features and image and audio quality, so that does help identify strengths and weaknesses at a glance.

Epinions can be extremely frustrating. It has a listing of TV-DVD combinations, but that only includes standard (CRT) TVs, most of which are discontinued. Other TV-DVD combos are listed on the site, but the easiest way to find them is to search by model number. Finally, very few TV-DVD combos get more than one or two reviews, and most have none at all.

CNet.com has not reviewed a TV-DVD player combo in quite some time, and does not even include a category for those products. However, most combos do have a listing on this massive site, and some have a handful of user reviews. Again, the easiest way to find those is to search by model number.
