Phil & Teds Sport Buggy Review

(*est. $400) Compare Prices

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Jogging Strollers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
The Phil & Teds Sport Buggy is popular with parents and reviewers. One expert source cites the various improvements on this newest Phil & Teds model, including adjustable handlebars, quick-release wheels, an improved five-point harness, and the addition of a recline feature to the optional double-seat adapter. Many parents find the configuration of the Sport Buggy with the double-seat adapter more convenient than typical double strollers.

What the reviewers don't like:
We found some minor complaints about the Phil & Teds Sport Buggy's weight and bulk, as well as comments about fraying fabric, difficulty changing the seat position, and hard-to-adjust straps. Also, parents note this stroller's high price.

Phil & Teds Sport Buggy review highlights

The three-wheeled Phil & Teds Sport Buggy features a ton of storage space and a fully reclining seat, which makes it appropriate for newborns. Even better, from the perspective of experts and parents, is that Phil & Teds offers a double-seat adapter (*est. $90) that converts the Sport Buggy into a double stroller. Most sources are impressed with this all-terrain stroller (which isn't meant for jogging), but we did find some small quibbles about its bulk. (Phil & Teds only supplies the frame weight, which is 24 pounds.) The Mountain Buggy Urban Single (*est. $430) gets the best reviews among all-terrain strollers, but it does not offer the option to convert to a two-seater.

We found the best review of the Phil & Teds Sport Buggy (which is also called the Phil & Teds SP Single) at JoggingStroller.com, a retail site devoted to jogging and all-terrain strollers that features both expert and parent reviews. The Sport Buggy is also evaluated by StrollerMama, and receives in-depth feedback from owners posting at Amazon.com.

Phil & Teds SP Single Stroller
Editors of (and contributors to) JoggingStroller.com

This site offers an editorial review of the Phil & Teds SP Single (which is another name for the Sport Buggy), as well as comments from parents. The editors recommend this stroller for parents who are planning to have a second child (thanks to its optional double-seat accessory). Parents basically like this stroller, but have some quibbles about its weight and bulk (its frame alone is 24 pounds), hard-to-adjust straps and seat position, a canopy that is too low, and fabric that wears after extended use.

Phil & Teds Sport Buggy Lives Up to Its Name

StrollerMama is a retailer, but this review seems honest and enthusiastic. The writer raves about the Sport Buggy's adjustable handlebars, the addition of a recline feature to the double-seat adapter, quick-release wheels, and an improved five-point harness.

Only a handful of parents review the Sport Buggy here, but they go into considerable depth. One owner compares this all-terrain stroller favorably to the Valco Runabout TriMode. One father complains of the fabric "coming apart at the seams" after only a month; the distributor was sending him a replacement cover even though Phil & Teds customer service says they consider this normal wear and tear.
