Bugaboo Cameleon Review

(*est. $900) Compare Prices

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Full-Featured Strollers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Reviewers enjoy the Bugaboo Cameleon’s ability to handle all terrains with one-handed steering, as well as its adjustable suspension (which makes for a smooth ride). The Cameleon's removable, washable material makes it easy to keep sparkling clean. In addition, its large, plush seat (made from mattress material), along with its full recline and bassinette feature, earn high points from parents. The adjustable-height handle is also a plus.

What the reviewers don’t like:
The Bugaboo Cameleon’s two-part fold requires two hands and a big learning curve, according to some parents, and even still, some didn't quite get the hang of it. Also, because of its size, this stroller is not ideal for quick errands, and owners say you’ll likely need a second stroller for chores like shopping. The biggest concern in reviews is the enormous price tag -- some reviewers simply question whether any stroller is worth this expense.

Bugaboo Cameleon review highlights

Overall, the Bugaboo Cameleon earns top grades from both professional reviewers and owners, and most reviews say it is an improvement over the older Bugaboo Cameleon. As befits its price, the Cameleon almost never breaks down, and it has a large, plush seat with a full recline and bassinette feature. Also, users say this stroller is smooth on all terrains, with an adjustable suspension and one-handed steering. The only aspect that receives complaint is the tricky folding mechanism, which gave even some experts trouble.

The Strollers and Prams website evaluates the Bugaboo Cameleon in depth, providing both parent and editor reviews, as well as pages of pictures to give visitors a clear idea of seating, folding, storage and more. Another site, Baby-Gaga.com, also provides a detailed look at the Bugaboo. This stroller is also evaluated by a few dozen parents at BabyBargains.com and Epinions. Disappointingly, Consumer Reports has yet to look at this model, though editors have rated the older Bugaboo Frog, on which the Cameleon is based.
