Bugaboo Frog Review

(*est. $760) Compare Prices

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Full-Featured Strollers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
At 16 pounds, the Bugaboo Frog is light and easy to steer, owners say. As with other Bugaboo strollers, the Frog’s fabric is stain resistant, removable and machine washable. The Bugaboo Frog’s three recline positions and bassinette for younger travelers make it extremely versatile, parents say, adding that good steering and suspension make for a very smooth ride.

What the reviewers don’t like:
Parents say that the Bugaboo Frog can be difficult to fold, because its seat has to be removed first. Also, some owners feel this stroller’s basket could be bigger and suggest that a larger sun canopy would provide better protection for riders. Finally, the Bugaboo Frog’s high sticker price is a jaw-dropper, especially since some parents recommend buying a second, less full-featured stroller for quick errands.

Bugaboo Frog review highlights

As with other luxury strollers, the Bugaboo Frog enjoys a sort of cult status among parents, and this stroller is frequently seen being pushed by celebrity moms and dads. Ordinary parents appreciate the Bugaboo Frog for its light 16-pound weight, smooth ride, sturdiness and easy-to-clean fabric. However, the Frog loses some points for difficulty of folding and storage, along with what some parents call inadequate weather protection. Needless to say, this stroller’s hefty price tag also gives some shoppers pause. Professional reviews say this is mainly a nice-looking, average performing stroller.

We found the most balanced review for the Bugaboo Frog at the British review site Which? Online. Interestingly, results of this detailed testing differ from what we found at most user-review sites, where parents are largely enthusiastic about the Bugaboo Frog. Consumer Reports also includes the Bugaboo Frog in its latest comparison test of strollers.

This is a well-balanced and credible review -- more thorough and detailed than reviews at Consumer Reports. Editors have tested several Bugaboo strollers, including the Bugaboo Frog, with surprising results.

Consumer Reports includes the expensive Bugaboo Frog in its evaluation of four other full-featured strollers priced from $50 up to almost $800. While we found it odd that editors lump a $50 budget stroller in the same class, it is interesting to see the Bugaboo Frog evaluated so dispassionately. The stroller is rated for maneuverability, ease of use and more, but editors don't say much about the stroller aside from the ratings.
