Bugaboo Gecko Review

(*est. $680)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Full-Featured Strollers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Reviewers and owners say the Bugaboo Gecko’s reversible handle and seat allow riders and drivers to enjoy a change of scenery. This luxury stroller offers a smooth ride over various terrains, and it comes with a rain cover, mosquito netting, underseat bag and two-year warranty. The seat is made of aerosleep fabric and can be used separately as a carrier. This stroller's main appeal isn't so much its functionality; rather, it has a status image many people find attractive.

What the reviewers don’t like:
Experts say that adjusting the Bugaboo Gecko’s seat positions isn't as easy as it should be, and they indicate that the seat doesn’t always provide a comfortable angle for riders. Also, this stroller’s hand brake is not that easy to use. Folding can be difficult and cumbersome, and one review source points out a possible safety concern with children getting their fingers stuck between the seats. Finally, the Gecko’s steep price tag may put it out of the reach of most parents.

Bugaboo Gecko review highlights

Reviewers say that despite its popularity with various celebrities, the Bugaboo Gecko leaves much to be desired. Although reviewers enjoy features like the reversible handle, experts are disappointed by the Bugaboo Gecko’s hard-to-reach seat-position lever and complain that it’s difficult to fold. One reviewer tested the Gecko and cited a potential safety hazard -- children could get their fingers caught between the handle and the seat. Clearly, the Bugaboo Gecko is primarily a product whose popularity hinges on its cachet, modern-looking design and status rather than its performance aspects.

The best review of the Bugaboo Gecko can be found on the website of the British publication Which? magazine.
