Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella Review

(*est. $50)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Umbrella Strollers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Parents say the Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella is lightweight and good looking. Many appreciate the taller handles. Also, the seat wins praise for its padding and partial recline. Some experts say Kolcraft's bargain-priced strollers compare favorably to models by Graco and Cosco.

What the reviewers don't like:
The detachable sunshade on the Kolcraft umbrella stroller draws the most criticism; owners say it is ineffective and a nuisance (since it must be detached before folding the stroller). No review we've found so far seems very impressed with the iPod compatibility of the Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella; the speaker is weak and the holder is awkward. Some parents also complain that this stroller is not very durable.

Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella review highlights

Of the nearly two dozen parents who review the Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella on Target.com, Amazon.com and Sears.com, only a couple mention its distinguishing feature, iPod compatibility -- and they express some disappointment. Otherwise, owners are lukewarm about this stroller, with some saying it's difficult to use, several reporting problems with the detachable sunshade, and others complaining of broken parts. Baby Bargains editors and contributors warn parents to expect compromises in quality, but still compares Kolcraft strollers favorably to models by Graco and Cosco. Rather than the iBaby stroller, consider the Kolcraft Jeep Wrangler Umbrella Stroller (*est. $40), which skips the iPod holder and saves you $10.

The Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella, which includes an iPod dock with built-in speaker, replaces the otherwise similar Kolcraft Reclining Umbrella. Baby-Gaga.com offers a typically thorough review of the discontinued Kolcraft Reclining Umbrella, evaluating this lightweight stroller for comfort, ride, durability and other criteria. We supplemented this expert review with about two dozen posts by owners on Amazon.com, Target.com, and Sears.com, as well as a general evaluation of low-priced Kolcraft strollers in the popular book Baby Bargains.

The Kolcraft Reclining Umbrella (which is no longer manufactured), a close relative of the Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella, earns good, but not great, marks in this extremely thorough review. Baby-Gaga.com says this Kolcraft offers some advantages over typical umbrella strollers and is a good choice as a lightweight secondary stroller.

The Fields don't discuss the Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella in particular, but they do say Kolcraft's low-end umbrella strollers compare favorably to models by Graco and Cosco, but don't quite match the quality of the more expensive Maclaren strollers.
