Gillette Venus Divine review highlights

Most reviews cover electric shavers more than manual razors, but we did find some good comparisons. The best of the bunch, Which.co.uk, examined 24 manual razors for both men and women. We also found a newspaper review in The Austin-American Statesman to be enlightening. Compared with other products, we found fewer user reviews of women's razors, but the reviews did provide perspective, especially those at Drugstore.com, which logged more reviews than Amazon.com. Consumer Reports has several individual write-ups on men's razors but not women's shavers.

Users and testers clearly agree that the Gillette Venus Divine women's shaver gives a more comfortable, closer shave than fancier, more expensive razors with unnecessary features. It doesn't do as well as the nearly-identical men's Gillette Mach3 Turbo (*est. $10) in reviews. But it gets better ratings than the five-bladed Gillette Fusion (*est. $10) and the vibrating Venus Vibrance (*est. $13), as testers have concluded those features don't deliver a closer shave. Users say it's easier on the legs, sparing them bumps and razor burn.

Sorting Through Razor Innovations Is Really Splitting Hairs
Helen Anders
Apr. 2007

Staff writer Helen Anders, along with her husband, tries out a few manual razors. Anders settles on the Gillette Venus Divine as her favorite. She concludes that razors with more blades or those that dispense lotion don't give a better shave.

Gillette Venus Divine, Razor for Women Reviews
Contributors to Drugstore.com

We found more reviews of manual razors on this site than at Amazon.com. Users love the Gillette Venus Divine women's shaver, saying it shaves well without the nicks. Just a few posters say it doesn't shave as closely as other razors.

4. Amazon.com
Gillette for Women Venus Divine Razor Reviews
Contributors to Amazon.com

Fewer than 10 reviews are posted at Amazon.com for the Gillette Venus Divine women's razor. Most praise the Venus for giving a close shave without nicks or burns. One who preferred earlier Gillette models says a piece of rubber attached to the plastic body is flimsy and broke.
