Smooth Fitness EVO FX30 Review

(*est. $1,700)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Treadmills which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
Specialty sites are quite impressed by the "Motion Control" innovation of the treadmills in the Smooth EVO line, which lets users change their speed by waving their arms over the side rails. Also, this treadmill folds for easy storage and has a relatively high 275-pound weight limit.

What the reviewers don't like:
Most believe that there are better treadmill choices, and in one major, recent roundup of treadmills, the EVO FX30 comes in dead last. Even a site that raves about the Smooth EVO line suggests buying the EVO FX20 instead, which is $200 cheaper. The belt on the Smooth EVO FX30 is wide (20") but also short (just 51").

Smooth Fitness EVO FX30 review highlights

Overall, reviewers are mixed about the Smooth Fitness EVO FX30. This folding treadmill comes in dead last in a recent category roundup by one major review source, but specialty sites rave about EVO treadmills (especially the "Motion Control" feature that lets users change their speed by waving their arms over the side rails). However, even one of these sources recommends the Smooth EVO FX20 instead, which costs $200 less.

The best treadmill reviews focus on build-quality and ease of use. Consumer Reports conducts the most thorough review of the Smooth Fitness EVO FX30 folding treadmill, testing this treadmill (along with many other models) by simulating a year of use. The Smooth EVO FX30 is also considered by Treadmill-Resource-Center.com and TreadmillAdviser.com, although the gung-ho copy on these sites leaves their impartiality open to question.

The Smooth EVO FX30 folding treadmill is among the models considered by Consumer Reports in its recent roundup, in which treadmills are tested by simulating a year of use.

2. Treadmill-Resource-Center.com
EVO Treadmills
Editors of Treadmill-Resource-Center.com

This site raves about all the treadmills in the Smooth EVO line; the only criticism here is that "the value for money begins to decrease" as you look at more-expensive EVO treadmills. Writing specifically about the Smooth EVO FX30, the editors say they would "opt for the FX20 HR and save the $200."

3. TreadmillAdviser.com
Smooth Evo FX30 Treadmill Review
Editors of TreadmillAdviser.com

It's hard to know how seriously to take this review, since TreadmillAdviser.com doesn't mention any downside to the Smooth EVO FX30. The writer raves about this treadmill's "Motion Control," which lets users change speed by running their arms over the side rails.
