We were only able to find two professional reviews of the Alen T300 Tower Air Purifier, but they’re good ones: a short blurb on Air-Purifiers-America.com based on this site’s rigorous testing, and a thorough description by the enthusiast site Air-Purifier-Power.com. The T300 also receives comments from a handful of owners posting on Amazon.com. It has not yet been tested at Consumer Reports.
Air-Purifiers-America.com calls the Alen T300 "the quietest HEPA air purifier we have ever tested," and especially likes its features that are more often found on more expensive air purifiers: a UV lamp for bacterial control and activated carbon filters for removing odors (which are relatively inexpensive to replace). Reviewers say this air purifier is especially good at removing pet dander, pollen and mold spores, but only covers an area of 300 square feet (compared to up to 800 square feet for another Alen model, the A350). One expert says it works best in much smaller rooms of about 100 square feet. In this price range, we also found good reviews for the Whirlpool Whispure AP51030S (*est. $290).
Alen T300 Tower review highlights
What the reviewers like:
In tests, the Alen T300 is extremely quiet, and does a good job of removing pet dander, pollen and mold spores from the air. It has advanced features such as a UV lamp for bacterial control and activated carbon filters.
What the reviewers don’t like:
One Amazon.com reviewer says he had a hard time dealing with Alen customer service after the UV lamp burned out. For the money, the Alen T300 doesn't clean a very large area, so it's better for a small bedroom or office than it is for a living room.
