Bionaire BAP825-U review highlights

Generally, the consensus among owners is that the Bionaire BAP825-U is a decent air purifier, considering its budget price and limited range (it’s meant for rooms 180 square feet or smaller). Some users say this machine does a good job filtering allergens, but one experienced owner warns that it’s not effective against mold or pollen. We found numerous complaints about noise, vibration and inferior construction, as well as warnings that only more expensive air cleaners are truly effective. In one major comparison test of 30 air cleaners, the Bionaire BAP825-U finishes near the bottom of the pack. For a few dollars more, you can get a better-rated machine such as the Honeywell Enviracaire 50250 (*est. $150).

The only formal review of the Bionaire BAP825-U Air Purifier is by Consumer Reports, which tests this air purifier against 29 other machines in an older October 2005 report (it isn't included in the magazine's more recent November 2007 test). The BAP825-U isn’t discussed at the otherwise reliable enthusiast site Air-Purifier-Power.com (which does skewer another Bionaire model, the now-discontinued 1300). The Bionaire is also one of the few air cleaners to be reviewed by owners at Amazon.com, Epinions and Target.com, who give a good idea of its advantages and drawbacks.
