Electrolux Harmony EL6985A Review

(*est. $300)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Canister Vacuums which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
The Electrolux Harmony EL6985A canister vacuum is praised for its light 12-pound weight and quiet operation, and reviewers say it's reasonably powerful. This bagged canister vacuum is especially recommended for wooden floors.

What the reviewers don't like:
The Electrolux Harmony canister vacuum uses fairly small (two quart) dust bags, and washable HEPA bags have to be purchased separately from Electrolux. Also, although we couldn't find any negative comments from owners about this vacuum (or any comments at all, for that matter), Electrolux hasn't traditionally fared well in overall reliability.

Electrolux Harmony EL6985A review highlights

Experts agree that the main selling points of the Electrolux Harmony EL6985A (and other models in the Harmony line) are its light 12-pound weight and quiet operation, though it's unclear how this bagged canister vacuum stacks up against comparably priced models in terms of cleaning performance. As with other canister vacuums, reviewers recommend the Electrolux Harmony canister vacuum mainly for bare floors, saying it does only an adequate job on carpeting.

We found only two reviews of the bagging Electrolux Harmony EL6985A canister vacuum, both from sources that aren't exactly known for balanced reviews that weigh both pros and cons: AllergyBuyersClub.com and ConsumerGuide.com. However, while these reviews are mostly positive, the writers do cite enough equivocal information to set a skeptic's mind at ease.

AllergyBuyersClub.com goes into great detail about the pluses and minuses of Electrolux Harmony canister vacuums, which get high marks for power, light weight and quiet operation. However, the writer does notice the smallish (two quart) dust bags and the fact that you have to purchase washable HEPA bags separately from Electrolux.

This mostly positive write-up praises the Electrolux Harmony canister vacuum's quiet operation and performance on wood floors. The two main drawbacks noted are the lack of an individually powered head and so-so performance on carpeting.
