What the reviewers like:
In tests, the Oreck DutchTech DTX1400B canister vacuum does a good job cleaning carpeting and bare floors. It has a longer-than-average hose, as well as a brush on/off switch and overload protection for its rotating brush motor. What the reviewers don't like: At 25 pounds, the Oreck DutchTech DTX1400B is fairly heavy, and reviewers say it's noisy and difficult to maneuver. The Oreck canister vacuum is too expensive relative to its performance in reviews. Oreck DutchTech DTX 1400B review highlights In one comparison, the Oreck DutchTech DTX1400B is an average performer. Reviewers say it cleans fairly well and has a longer-than-average hose, but it's also heavy, noisy and difficult to maneuver. Although the Oreck canister vacuum does a good job cleaning carpet and bare floors, it costs far more than similar canister vacuums that clean just as well, such as the Hoover WindTunnel S3765-040 (*est. $175). We found only one review of the Oreck DutchTech DTX 1400B canister vacuum, but it's from an excellent source, Consumer Reports. They include the Oreck vac in its recent roundup of canister vacuums (in which models are tested over the equivalent of eleven miles of carpet and bare floors, with a particular emphasis on performance picking up pet hair). Unfortunately, there's not much additional critical evaluation out there for the pricey Oreck DutchTech. Also see full report: Canister Vacuums *In order of credibility (see our Ratings Criteria).1.
