Craftsman 17925 Clean n Carry Review

(*est. $90) Compare Prices

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Shop Vacs which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the reviewers like:
The wall-mounted feature saves storage space. Like its competitor from Ridgid, the wall-mounted Craftsman 17925 comes with a 21-foot hose (in two sections), so it can reach a wide area from its position on the wall. You can also use a bigger hose (2.5 inches in diameter), or take this unit off the wall for extra reach.

What the reviewers don't like:
One review finds the onboard tool storage flimsy. Some users find it difficult to buy attachments for the Craftsman 17925 shop vac because its hose diameter is 1 7/8 inches rather than the more standard 2.5 inches. Some owners also complain that the hose tends to kink and clog, and the shop vac squeals when used with the long hose. We read a variety of other complaints as well; some owners find the capacity too small for general use.

Craftsman 17925 Clean n Carry review highlights

Owner-written reviews praise the convenience of the Craftsman 17925 shop vac’s wall-mounted design, but overall, the Ridgid WD5500 Store 'n Go Shop Vac (*est. $100) costs only slightly more yet receives much higher ratings. The Ridgid also comes with a lifetime guarantee, compared with a one-year warranty for the Craftsman 17925 shop vac.

Shop Vac Showdown: We Test 6 New Wet/Dry Vacuums
Tom Klenck
Sept. 2007

This review compares the Craftsman 17925 shop vac with five others ranging from 4.5 to 16 gallons, testing their speed and capacity in vacuuming water and in picking up a variety of dry debris (cat litter, sawdust, wood shavings and scraps, garden mulch). Unfortunately this is the only wall-mounted shop vac tested here, and this feature is its main advantage. Editors find the tool storage flimsy and inefficient, but otherwise it performs well; only the main hose is used here, without the extra 7-foot extension.
