What the reviewers like:
The Oreck XL21's light weight makes it easy to push, as well as to carry up and down stairs. Owners are generally satisfied with its cleaning performance. What the reviewers don't like: Considering its steep price, the Oreck XL21 doesn't clean as well as it should, say reviewers, who recommend heavier (but cheaper) vacuums. Also, this vacuum doesn't come with tools, and its lack of an on-off brush control can make it unsuitable for hard floors. Oreck XL21 review highlights Owners and reviewers agree that the Oreck XL21's biggest selling point is its light weight -- only eight pounds -- compared to other vacuums that weigh 15 or 20 pounds. In cleaning tests, however, the Oreck lags behind other uprights, which may weigh slightly more but also cost a lot less. We found the best reviews of the Oreck XL21 at Consumer Reports, which includes this vacuum in its latest category roundup, and at About.com, whose housekeeping guide takes the Oreck XL21 out for a test drive. The Oreck XL21 is also included in a slightly older roundup by Good Housekeeping magazine, and it has received some comments from owners on Epinions.
