Photo Printing Services
Tony Hoffman
Dec. 20, 2006
This article includes reviews of 13 photo-printing services. Interestingly, some of the services that score well elsewhere do not do quite as well here. Coming in at fourth place, Kodak EasyShare Gallery comes the closest to doing so. This author's top pick for quality is AdoramaPix, but photo prices and shipping are on the high side. The author gives dotPhoto second place and EZPrints a third place rating. Sony ImageStation finishes next to last, but it's inexpensive.

Online Photo Services Shootout
Tom Mainelli
Jan. 27, 2006
In this review of five online printing services, the editors test and rate "everything from image-editing features to delivery options to print sizes." Kodak EasyShare Gallery is highest rated because of its good print quality. Snapfish is the second choice. Editors liked its "good prints and reasonable prices." Shutterfly has good prints, but higher prices. Yahoo!'s printing is inconsistent, but the service has numerous editing features. Wal-Mart Photo Center is the last choice due to its "dismal print quality."

Which Photo Sites Are Best?
Burt Helm
Nov. 7, 2005
Several photo sites are evaluated in various categories such as print quality, price, features and speed of delivery. Snapfish is rated best if you mostly care about the quality of prints. Kodak and dotPhoto are a close second. Although Shutterfly is the easiest site to use, its prints are the "worst" because they are "blurry and dark." While the article itself has not been updated since 2005, the more recent reader posts are helpful. Two notable trends that emerge among the user comments are the quality drop-off in Snapfish and the emerging interest in Sony ImageStation (currently being acquired by Shutterfly) as a contender in terms of its print quality.

Turn pixels into prints
Ben Long
July 6, 2005
This reviewer tests and evaluates nine digital printing services. Snapfish is the favorite because of its "excellent image quality." A close second is Mpix for its high print quality. Ben Long chooses Wal-Mart as the best option for quick delivery, but a poor choice for print quality. While Long hoped to find a "clear winner," he notes that "the frustrating truth is that most services produced good prints at some times and bad prints at other times."

The Best Online Photo Finishers
Editors of DigitalPhotos101.com
As of Oct. 2007
This enthusiast website includes ratings for six digital photo printing services. While the features listed for each service is useful, there are few evaluative comments and all services receive a similar high rating. For these reasons, this website is not very useful. Snapfish is rated as a "top pick."

Good Digital Prints, Cheap
Jim Louderback
June 1, 2005
Columnist Jim Louderback pits online printing against a home printer and in-store printing kiosks. Snapfish delivers photos quickly and cheaply, and they look nicest. Kodak EasyShare Gallery sends nice photos, but cost more. None of the in-store kiosks are recommended; the hardware was usually broken or employees weren't helpful. We wish Louderback would post a more recent follow-up to this article.

Digital Photo Printing Reviews 2007
Editors of TopTenReviews.com
Not Dated
This is a good overall comparison report, with a side-by-side chart showing the top ten (out of 27 services reviewed). Each item on the chart has a link to a longer review. Unfortunately, despite the recent date, the review content has not changed in over a year, which is extremely misleading. Yahoo! Photos and Sony ImageStation are still listed, even though these services are shutting down. York Photo.com is top rated because it offers low prices and the best prints. Snapfish is in second place, Clark Color is third and Wal-Mart fourth.

This article considers several digital photo printing options. Generally, it doesn't provide rankings although it does compare a few printing services. Interestingly, the article does so primarily to say that the editors find no discernible difference in quality between the various services.

Mugs on Mugs
Melissa Schorr
July 7, 2006
This article focuses on photo mugs. Five photo finishing sites are reviewed here, including Shutterfly, PhotoWorks, Snapfish, Kodak EasyShare Gallery and Sony ImageStation. At the top of the list is Shutterfly for the best image and most durable mug, but the others fall short for one reason or another.

Almost-Instant Albums
Editors of Good Housekeeping
June 2005
Good Housekeeping's editors look specifically at photo albums generated by online photo sites. The 11 x 9-inch Snapfish album was best overall, but ClubPhoto's small 4 x 6-inch spiral-bound album is a good value. Photoworks.com and ImageStation are not recommended. Photo quality was good from Shutterfly, but only "fair" from Kodak.

Mom's Guide to Digital Photo Printing Services
Editors of ShoppingMommies.com
Feb. 2006
In this article, seven online printing services are reviewed and rated on ease of use, quality and price. The top pick is Target/Yahoo! You can upload your photos to Yahoo! and then pick them up at a local Target store. Shutterfly earns high marks for quality and ease of use, but low marks for price. Wal-Mart scores highly for quality and price, but receives a low rating for ease of use due to its limited photo storage. Kodak EasyShare Gallery scores well for ease of use and quality, with a low score for price. The photo quality of Snapfish is not tested. This article would rank more highly if it were more recently written.
