2. DatingDame.com	Dating Reviews Editors of DatingDame.com As of Aug. 2008		Reviews and user ratings of many online dating sites can be found here. Editors first rate the site and then interview users about their experiences. Pricing and the number of members is included. Separate lists are maintained for ethnic, niche, regional and international sites. Match.com is the only site to receive a perfect score. Lavalife.com, Nerve.com and Date.com are on the second ratings tier. It's unclear whether this site has been updated recently.
3. About.com	Top Online Dating Sites Bonny Albo Not Dated		This blog-style landing page links to lots of news and information for those interested in online dating, including reviews of online dating sites. The reviews feature a rating, a brief description of the site, costs and what's included in the membership, the target audience and what's different and unusual. However, it's not clear if Albo signed up and tested these services herself. (Note that ConsumerSearch and About.com are owned by the same parent company, but are not affiliated editorially.)
4. Top Ten Reviews.com	Online Dating Review Editors of TopTenReviews.com Not Dated		The nicest thing about this site is its features-comparison chart, which lets you quickly size up what's offered by each dating website. Individual write-ups include a more detailed discussion of features, with some comparisons. It appears that the reviewer did take each site for a test drive, filling out the profile and clicking around on each site. No alternative sites are discussed -- this article pretty much covers the big sites only.
5. About.com	Top Free Dating Sites Bonny Albo Not Dated		Though discussion is brief, Bonny Albo, the About.com Guide to Dating, lists what she considers to be the top six free dating sites. She writes that her picks were "carefully chosen," but criteria aren't otherwise discussed. The top pick is OkCupid.com, which is a "mix of social networking, compatibility-testing and online dating." Casual Kiss is excellent for younger users with most members under the age of 40. (Note that ConsumerSearch and About.com are owned by the same parent company, but are not affiliated editorially.)
6. About.com	Chemistry Dating Site Review Bonny Albo July 31, 2007		Bonny Albo reviews Chemistry.com, writing that it is "an unusual and highly entertaining dating site for those interested in compatibility matching." Albo really likes the short Personality Profile and recommends that all singles take the test. Features of the site are briefly discussed, but this is not a comprehensive evaluation.
7. VillageMatchmaker.com	Top Online Dating Sites Editors of VillageMatchmaker.com As of Aug. 2008		This site offers reviews and descriptions of nine dating sites. Of the top dating sites, Chemistry.com, eHarmony and Match.com share the highest rating. Ratings are said to be based on features evaluation, number of users, ease of use and price. Although the information here seems well researched, it is not clear who is running the site.
8. CupidOnlineDating.com	Top Online Dating Sites for Singles Editors of CupidOnlineDating.com As of Aug. 2008		This site uses a helpful comparison chart to illustrate the features of seven popular dating sites. Rank is based on matchmaking, search functionality, selection and cost. Chemistry.com is rated the best with Singlesnet.com coming in last. Although useful, some of the articles sound as if they were translated from another language, and it is not clear who is running this site.

9. TechCrunch.com	Niche Dating Sites Grow Steadily As Mainstream Ones Flail Mark Brooks April 24, 2008		Guest contributor Mark Brooks, whose blog Online Personals Watch covers the Internet dating industry, says that niche dating sites like Adam4Adam, BlackPeopleMeet and ChristianMingle are growing more rapidly than mainstream dating sites. Although no online dating site is recommended as the best, Brooks provides significant information about changes and trends in the online dating industry.
10. Dating-Overview.com	Dating-Overview.com Online Dating Guide Editors of Dating-Overview.com As of Aug. 2008		This website provides reviews and industry news about dating sites around the world, but no recommendations are given. Editors take a look at specialty niches such as international dating, millionaire dating and mail-order-bride sites. Match.com, OkCupid, EuropeanKiss.org, WineLoversMeet.com and date.ca seem to rank highest. The reviews sometimes sound as if they were written by someone whose native language is not English, and the website appears to originate from the Ukraine.
11. Idolme.com	Review of Online Dating Service -- Compare the Two Andrew Ryan As of Aug. 2008		Editor Andrew Ryan recounts his personal dating experience on eHarmony.com and Great Expectations and considers eHarmony to be the best.
12. Dating Sites Comparison.com	Online Dating Sites 2008 -- Overview Editors of DatingSitesComparison.com As of Aug. 2008		The editors briefly review four sites that "provide comprehensive online dating services and large member databases." The top pick is PerfectMatch.com, "which offers the most precise personality matching." Yahoo! Personals is a close second with its best feature being picture profiles, and Match.com follows for its large membership. Sites are selected for inclusion based on their popularity.

Dating Sites Reviews.com	Online Dating Sites Editors of DatingSitesReviews.com As of Aug. 2008		Over 40 online dating sites are briefly profiled by the editors, and also get user ratings on a scale of one to five. Interestingly, eHarmony.com gets one of the lowest scores among users, just 1.5 out of five stars. The editors' profiles list positive and negative features, costs, relationship types, search parameters and an overview, but don't render any opinions about which sites are best. There are also articles about dating and the latest news in the online dating industry. In addition to the user ratings, most of the dating sites also get a handful of detailed user reviews. Many of these are eye-opening.
14. Newsweek >> Details/Subscribe	Love Me, Love My Tofu Sarah Kliff Sept. 27, 2007		This article discusses the challenges faced by vegetarians and vegans looking for love online. Sarah Kliff reveals new dating sites targeting vegetarians such as Vegan Passion, Veggie Fishing and Planet Earth Singles. Although the sites are not reviewed, the article mentions interesting facts regarding growth of these sites as well as some pitfalls for these newcomers.
15. Online Dating Magazine.com	Online Dating Service Reviews Joe Tracy and contributors to OnlineDatingMagazine.com As of Aug. 2008		Both Joe Tracy, the publisher of the site, and users rate a few of the major sites. Tracy gives lengthy detailed reviews of six sites, discussing their best feature, most annoying feature and other pros and cons. eHarmony.com gets the highest rating. Match.com follows. Although the reviews for Match and eHarmony are nearly five years old, the other four sites reviewed have been reviewed in 2008. The user-written reviews are much more recent, but almost half are about eHarmony, which does not do particularly well.
16. Business Week >> Details/Subscribe	A Kiss-Off to Online Dating Sarah Lacy Nov. 20, 2007		Sarah Lacy discusses the trend of users moving away from traditional online dating sites. Not wanting to place their cards on the virtual table, the next generation of daters prefers social networking sites such as Digg and Yelp to meet new people.
17. eDate Review	Top Rated Dating Sites Contributors to eDateReview.com As of Aug. 2008		Six dating sites are briefly described, then rated by consumers. Lavalife.com is the top pick of visitors, but with only an average score. Most other sites do poorly as well, and some have hundreds of comments (eHarmony has more than 1,500 reviews). Most of the recent complaints on Lavalife are about the change in pricing -- moving from a system of buying credits to a monthly membership fee -- and a reconfiguration of the website that limits the use of certain browsers.

The-Online-Dating-Reviews.com	Top Online Dating Reviews Editors of The-Online-Dating-Reviews.com As of Aug. 2008		This site examines over 50 dating sites and offers sections for many specialty groups. However, the site only provides the features of dating sites without giving recommendations, and it appears to be affiliate-driven.
19. DatingReviewsFaq.com	Dating Reviews Editors of DatingReviewsFaq.com As of Aug. 2008		This site describes the features of only six dating sites and includes articles that are focused around the services of dating sites. No reviews are given and the information is outdated.
20. Online Personals Watch.com	Online Personals Watch Mark Brooks As of Aug. 2008		This blog covers the business side of online dating, including executive interviews, news and more. Also included is a listing of the most popular online dating sites according to Hitwise, an online measurement company. At the time of our visit, SinglesNet.com, PlentyofFish.com, Yahoo! Personals, Match.com and Adam4Adam.com hold the top five spots. There's little critical information here.
