Cuisinart CBK-200 Review

(*est. $130)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Bread Machines which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the Reviewers Like:
Owners like the retro design and stainless-steel housing. The special cycle for gluten-free recipes is well-regarded by both owners and experts, who also like the convection-bake feature, which browns the crust more evenly. Most owners say the Cuisinart CBK-200 bread machine is easy to use with an unusual three-year warranty.

What the Reviewers Don't Like:
Experts dislike the shape of the loaf pan, which makes loaves that are somewhere in between horizontal and vertical. Some wish there were more programmable features. We read some complaints from owners about burning bread and that the Cuisinart CBK-200 is harder to clean than others.

Cuisinart CBK-200 review highlights

The Cuisinart CBK-200 receives mixed reviews from the expert and owners. In the only professional comparative review we found, the reviewer likes the Cuisinart breakmaker overall, but doesn't like the loaf pan, which turns out loaves that are neither horizontal (with the crust on one long side) nor fully vertical. Also, reviews say the single paddle design sometimes leaves flour in the corners of the pan. Experts do praise the CBK-200's low-carb, gluten-free and convection-bake cycles. At Amazon.com, we read some reports of mechanical problems and many say it's hard to clean. Among comparably priced bread machines, we found better reviews for the Panasonic SD-YD250 (*est. $120).

The Cuisinart CBK-200 has accumulated several dozen owner-written reviews at Amazon.com, Cooking.com and Epinions. For a review on BreadMachineDigest.com, expert Robert Barnett prepares 30 different loaves in this Cuisinart bread machine before assessing its performance and features. This is the only professional evaluation we found, but the large number of user reviews give us a good idea of overall performance.
