What the reviewers like:
The DeLonghi DCM485 coffee maker has a thermal carafe and a funky, retro design that appeals to some owners. Many say the coffee tastes good, even while citing the DeLonghi coffee maker’s drawbacks. What the reviewers don't like: The complaints about the DeLonghi DCM485 don't center around the quality of the coffee so much as the coffee maker's design. Dozens of owners say the carafe design can cause coffee to spill when you try to pour a cup. Some also complain that the coffee could be hotter. The replacement water filters have to be ordered directly from the manufacturer, which is an inconvenience. DeLonghi DCM485 review highlights Owner reviews for the DeLonghi DCM485 thermal-carafe coffee maker bear a striking similarity with one another. Most owners rate it below average in its class, mainly due to a leaky carafe. However, many owners do compliment the flavor of the coffee. We did not see the DeLonghi DCM485 compared directly to the Capresso MT500 (*est. $170) or Zojirushi Fresh Brew (*est. $90) coffee makers, but those two competitors receive much higher overall satisfaction ratings from hundreds of owners. We did not see the DeLonghi DCM485 thermal-carafe coffee maker included in any professional comparative tests at Consumer Reports, Good Housekeeping or other publications. However, we did read over 60 owner-written reviews for this model at Amazon.com and another dozen or so at Epinions. The sheer number of owner-written reviews, coupled with the remarkable similarity of many of those reviews, is enough to judge the DeLonghi coffee maker's overall performance.
