Cuisinart DLC-2011 review highlights

Experts say this 11-cup Cuisinart food processor does a decent job at most tasks and is particularly good at kneading bread dough -- a task that's beyond most competing models. Editors at Cook's Illustrated, however, prefer the Cuisinart DLC-8S (*est. $160), which they say performs just as well as the DLC-2011 and costs less. Although testers dislike the feed tube design of the DLC-2011, owners don't seem to mind, according to user reviews. Instead, owner complaints center on the replacement parts -- which are said to be expensive -- and there are some concerns about Cuisinart's customer service.

The Cuisinart Prep II Plus DLC-2011 has been reviewed by editors at Cook's Illustrated, who put this 11-cup food processor through a battery of chopping, slicing, shredding and kneading tests. More than 50 owners have postings at Amazon.com and Epinions, which gives a good overall impression of owner opinion. Although Consumer Reports has tested many food processors, it hasn't tested the Cuisinart DLC-2011.

Food Processors Review
Editors of Cook's Illustrated
Sept. 2005

Testers put eight food processors through a battery of tests, including grinding, chopping, puréeing and combining ingredients into various types of dough. The Cuisinart DLC-2011 fares well in testing, and is recommended overall, though it's not ranked the highest. It's the "ultimate machine for bread," say testers. They didn't think so highly of the feed tube, and fruit and vegetable processing is less than stellar.
