What the Reviewers Don't Like:

Acme Supreme Juicerator 5001 review highlights

Inconveniences aside, we read glowing reports of the Acme Juicerator at Amazon.com, although it's unclear which model some owners are reviewing. Several owners say that they've owned their Juicerators for decades. Owners concede that the Juicerator is noisy, but they say it makes quick work of fruits and vegetables.

After testing five models, editors at The Wall Street Journal declare the Acme Supreme Juicerator 5001 its best overall juicer. This extractor has garnered only a handful of reviews at Amazon.com and Epinions, but we haven't seen it otherwise included in any professional comparison reviews.

Unlike the Breville Juice Fountain Elite (*est. $300) or the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro (*est. $70), the Acme Supreme Juicerator 5001 doesn't eject pulp automatically. Instead, the pulp stays in the chopping hopper, which results in clearer juice and greater yield. Getting more juice from your produce can save you money over time, but there are a few trade-offs. For starters, you have to empty the filter basket periodically during juicing. And removing the pulp from the chopping hopper isn't as easy as emptying the lined bin of a pulp-ejection juicer. Note that Waring now owns Acme; we saw the Supreme Juicerator 5001 also sold as the Waring Professional PJE series.

A Juiced-Up New Year
Charles Passy
Dec. 26, 2003

After testing five juicers for this roundup, Charles Passy rates the Acme Supreme Juicerator best overall. It's comparable to the pricey Green Star GS-3000 (*est. $450) in that it yields dry pulp, which means "more juicer for your money," writes Passy. The basket filters not only ease clean-up but also effectively remove froth and pulp.

With only a handful of reviews here, the Acme Juicerator receives a near perfect rating. Three of the owners say that they have owned their Acmes for decades, making it hard to know which model they are reviewing. Owners rave about their Juicerators, which they say are stable, powerful, and easy to clean. A few note that the Acme is somewhat bulky and noisy.

3. Epinions

The only review here for the Acme Supreme Juicerator 5001 is less flattering. Although the owner finds this juicer easy to use, he reports that bits of fruit can lodge inside the machine, making clean-up difficult.

Editors of Juicers: A Consumer Guide

Although this site also sells juicers, its editors aren't afraid to compare models. Editors stress ease of use, juice quality, and durability. The Acme Supreme Juicerator 5001 is one of two juicers that yield the most juice and are easy to clean.
