Champion Juicer Review

(*est. $220) Compare Prices

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Juicers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the Reviewers Like:
Owners and reviewers alike say the Champion juice extractor does a good job juicing fruits and vegetables. You can make sorbet, nut butter, and even flour in this versatile machine. Reviews say this juicer is durable. Surprisingly, the parts are guaranteed for five years, while the motor carries a three-year warranty (most juicers carry a longer warranty on the motor than on the parts).

What the Reviewers Don't Like:
This juicer takes up a good deal of counter space, and at 25 pounds, it's a chore to put away. The cutting shaft must be lubricated between uses. The Champion's high RPM speed creates friction, heating juice and destroying nutrients. Even reviewers who like this machine say it doesn't do a very good job with leafy greens, and it's not recommended for wheatgrass juicing.

Champion Juicer review highlights

Reviews of the Champion juicer are mixed. While owners posting to Epinions and Cooking.com say the Champion is durable and relatively easy to clean, editors at Juicing.com say it's hard to operate. Many reviewers note that this high-speed masticating juicer heats juice, destroying some nutrients. Cleaning this juicer requires a special brush, and the cutting shaft must be lubricated after each use. At 25 pounds, this is one heavy juicer. If you're juicing for nutrition, reviews say that the Omega 8003/8005 (*est. $250) is a better choice: Its low RPM speed doesn't generate excessive heat, and it's just as versatile as the Champion juicer.

We read the most detailed reviews of the Champion juice extractor at Epinions. A number of online juicer retailers say they tested this juicer in their published reviews, but they don't explain their methodology, so such endorsements aren't as reliable.
