Omega 4000 Review

(*est. $190) Compare Prices

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Juicers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the Reviewers Like:
The Omega 4000 has an exceptionally long warranty (15 years), but some owners note that this applies only to the motor. Most everyone agrees that the Omega 4000 is well engineered and sturdy. Several owners say that the Omega is quieter than other juicers in its class.

What The Reviewers Don't Like:
A few owners note that the Omega is hard to find in stores and rarely goes on sale. Some wish that the juicer was more stylish, befitting its relatively high price tag. Professional and consumer reviewers alike find the feed chute too small.

Omega 4000 review highlights

Overall, reviews say that this is a high-quality juicer at a reasonable price, if you don't mind spending a few minutes prepping your fruits and vegetables. A few owners caution that the blade assembly is easy to misplace, and one or two owners say that this juicer's white plastic housing and prominent "Omega" label don't fit in their sleek, high-end kitchens. And overall, we found better, more numerous reviews for the Breville Juice Fountain Elite (*est. $300) and less expensive Juice Fountain Plus (*est. $150), both of which have wider feed chutes.

The most credible review we read of the Omega 4000 appeared in the Wall Street Journal. The Journal's tester, Charles Passy, found the Omega's feeder chute to be unacceptably small, but most owners posting to Amazon and Epinons don't seem to mind, giving this juicer high marks for performance, calling it powerful and solidly built. The 4000 has a large reservoir for pulp, which owners say comes out relatively dry, indicating that the juicer is extracting most, if not all, the juice from produce.

A Juiced-Up New Year
Charles Passy
Dec. 26, 2003

Although this juicer delivered "decent juice," Charles Passy "couldn't get around the fact that the feed chute was barely wide enough for a quarter-apple." He reports that the Omega 4000 was "solid," but his overall experience was disappointing.

The Omega 4000 receives about two dozen reviews here. Most call it quiet, powerful, and well-built. We read scattered complaints about the assembly that holds the blade in place, which owners say is easy to misplace. Some owners say the screen is hard to clean, and they wish this juicer came with a cleaning brush. One owner notes that the basket and blade assembly are only guaranteed for one year. Most reviews are positive, however.
