This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Juicers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the Reviewers Like:
"The Omega 8003/8005 juicer is quiet, say reviewers. They report dry pulp (the greater the juice extraction, the drier the pulp). Owners like the included cleaning brush. Reviews say that the Omega does a great job with leafy greens and wheatgrass."

What the Reviewers Don't Like:

"To fit in the 2-inch feed chute, produce must be chopped before juicing, which lengthens prep time."

"Beets and carrots can stain the auger, juice container, and pulp bin, say owners, and juice tends to be pulpy. Owners say that the manual could be more helpful."

Omega 8003/8005 Juicer review highlights

The Omega 8003 (white) and 8005 (chrome and black) are masticating juice extractors that crush produce to a pulp before squeezing out juice. Experts say that this type of juicer can perform some functions of a food processor, such as making pasta, baby food and nut butters. With its single auger rotating at 3,600 RPM, the Omega 8003/8005 takes longer to produce juice than the centrifugal ejection Breville Juice Fountain Elite (*est. $300), which rotates at 13,000 RPM. Reviews say that low rotation speed means quiet operation; it also means less heat, which degrades nutrients. Owners say that pulp comes out dry, indicating full extraction. They note that this juicer disassembles easily for cleaning. The Omega 8003/8005 is praised for its ability to process leafy vegetables and grasses. Although the Omega 8003/8005 is more expensive than some other juicers, the extra cost may be worthwhile if you want its special functions.

The Omega 8003/8005 Juicer is not included in professional tests, so we turned to Amazon.com, where we read about two dozen owner-written reviews. We also read several reviews at Epinions.

Dr. Joseph Mercola

There is only one featured juicer, the Omega 8003/8005, at this e-tailer. Author Joseph Mercola says the Omega will juice veggies, fruit, and wheatgrass. It also makes nut butters. But since it isn't compared to others, it's hard to gauge the objectivity of this endorsement.
