Cuisinart 5.5 Quart Stand Mixer Review

(*est. $350)

This page is part of a larger ConsumerSearch report on Mixers which includes more reviews, analysis and a summary of the top-rated models.

What the Reviewers Like:
This Cuisinart stand mixer has several useful new features, including a non-stick cap that prevents dough from making its way up the dough hook and sticking. The digital timer and automatic shut-off win praise.

What the Reviewers Don’t Like:
This mixer is not as heavy as the KitchenAid Professional 600, and heavyweight mixers tend to vibrate less than lighter ones. The Cuisinart 5.5 Quart Stand Mixer’s capacity is smaller (5.5 quarts to the Pro 600's 6 quarts), although most owners find it adequate.

Cuisinart 5.5 Quart Stand Mixer review highlights

Expert reviewers say that the Cuisinart stand mixer's performance and features give it the edge over its closest competitor, the KitchenAid Professional 600 (*est. $350). It handles heavy bread, pizza, and cookie doughs with ease, and professional chefs liked its splash guard, "fold" feature for incorporating such delicate ingredients as whipped egg whites, and digital timer. Owners like the sleek design and long warranty. If you prepare large quantities of dough at one time, however, you should note that the competing KitchenAid Professional 600 has a larger capacity.

Cook's Illustrated includes the Cuisinart 5.5 Quart Stand Mixer in its most recent test of stand mixers. In its short time on the market, this model has accumulated a handful of owner-written reviews, most of which are positive. While it hasn't been evaluated yet at Consumer Reports, the strength of the review at Cook's Illustrated is an indication that the Cuisinart stand mixer can rival competitors in this price range from KitchenAid.
