1.  Cuisine at Home Belgian Waffle Irons

Editors of Cuisine at Home

Oct. 2007
reviews rating In this brief article, editors name their top five Belgian waffle irons, which range in price from $20 to $80. Although they say that they tested "many irons," editors don't discuss their testing methodology, nor do they discuss any underperforming models. Editors call the Hamilton Beach Flip 'n Fluff (since discontinued), which made the fluffiest waffles, their favorite. The Krups 4-slice Wafflechef is their large-capacity pick. The Waring Pro WMK300 has the greatest number of features, including a browning dial, light and sound indicators and a drip tray.
2.  Cook’s Illustrated Waffle Irons

Editors of Cook's Illustrated

Mar. 2004
reviews rating Editors at Cook's Illustrated methodically test eight classic (not Belgian) waffle makers that range in price from $20 to $90, favoring two VillaWare models -- the Uno Series Classic Waffler 4-Square and the Classic Round. Each has a light and bell that indicate when the waffle is ready. A round Proctor-Silex waffle maker produced pale, flabby waffles, as did the Toastmaster Cool-Touch Waffle Baker. The prize for best value goes to the Black and Decker Grill and Waffle Baker, which not only browned waffles evenly but also doubles as a pancake griddle.

3.  Amazon.com Waffle Iron Reviews

Contributors to Amazon.com

As of Jan. 2008
reviews rating At Amazon.com, owners are invited to rate their waffles irons on a 5-star scale. The Proctor-Silex 26500 Morning Baker Belgian Waffle Baker, the VillaWare V5000, the Waring Pro WMK300 Belgian Waffle Maker, the Hamilton Beach 26200 Flip 'n Fluff Belgian Waffle Baker and the VillaWare V2002 UNO Belgian Waffler are among the highly rated models here. This is a good site to visit once you've narrowed down your choices to a few. Many waffle makers get hundreds of reviews, but most end up with a similar average rating.
4.  Epinions Waffle Maker Reviews

Contributors to Epinions

As of jan. 2008
reviews rating At Epinions, many waffle makers receive a rating of five stars (out of five) from owners, with only a handful of reviews, which makes it difficult to tell which models are truly superior. Among waffle irons receiving five or more reviews are the Hamilton Beach 26500 Belgian Waffle Iron, the Chef's Choice 830 / 830B, the Waring WMK300 Professional Belgian Waffle Maker, the Black & Decker G48TD Grill & Waffle Maker Waffle Maker and the Cuisinart WMR-CA Round Classic Waffle, which fails to receive such glowing reviews at Amazon.com.

5.  Cooking.com Waffle Maker Reviews

Contributors to Cooking.com

As of jan. 2008
reviews rating This cookware e-tailer allows owners to post reviews of their waffle irons, but many models earn high ratings on the basis of very few reviews. The Waring Professional Belgian Waffle Iron, KitchenAid Pro Line Waffle Iron, Krups 2-square Nonstick Expert Belgian Waffle Maker and VillaWare 7-in. Professional Flip Waffler all earn 4.5 stars (out of five) or more in five or more reviews.
6.  The New York Times A New Iron Gives Waffles Character

Amanda Hesser

Nov. 4, 1998
reviews rating This dated article pits an electric waffle iron, the VillaWare Belgian Waffler, against a waffle iron that must be heated on the stovetop, the Nordic Ware waffle iron. Although the VillaWare made "picture-perfect" waffles, the Nordic Ware allows you to control the heat, yielding waffles that are deeply browned outside and moist within.
