What every best Air Conditioners has:
- Energy efficiency.
- A programmable timer.
- User-friendly controls.
Cools quickly and quietly. In testing at Consumer Reports, the Kenmore 77060 finishes toward the top of the pack and does well enough to earn Recommended status. It's noise levels at low speeds are judged to be Very Good. Things are a bit noisier at high speeds, however, though that's something that can be said for most air conditioners. It's Energy Star rated, and meets the latest efficiency standards. User reviews are limited but pretty positive, with 91 percent of Sears buyers offering it their recommendation.
Mixed feedback. Consumer Reports only gives the 77060 a mediocre rating of Good when it comes to ease of use. Users largely don't seem to have issues, however, though we did spot complaints that the controls can be hard to read. The small remote isn't backlit, and isn't temperature sensing, but is described as handy. Key features include a timer, a sleep mode, and an alert that reminds you to clean the removable filter.
Good warranty, no complaints. Kenmore is one of the brands that offers a little more than the standard one year warranty, covering the sealed refrigeration system (the most expensive thing to fix if something goes wrong) for a full five years. The track record with owners isn't extensive, but we saw no report of units that arrived dead or that have failed prematurely -- though some that said that dealing with Sears isn't always pleasant.
