By: Kelly Burgess on April 20, 2017

Bottom Line

A top performer in professional tests and a hit with owners, the LG LDC24370ST offers solid, quiet performance. The refrigerator lacks some niceties, such as through-the-door ice and water dispensers, though an icemaker is built in. It comes in two colors.

Pros

  • Roomy
  • Maintains even temperature
  • Adjustable storage
  • Energy Star qualified

Cons

  • Few features for the price
  • Stainless steel is "smudgy"

Features

Well-featured with good storage options. Experts and owners heap plenty of praise on the organization options offered on the LG LDC24370ST. The shelves have plenty of adjustment options, and the doors have two large storage bins that can a hold gallon size jugs, a butter compartment and a place to put small items like individual cartons or milk or cheese. There are also two crisper compartments and a full-width pantry bin for storing large party trays, etc. -- a plus for those who entertain a lot. The freezer has a convenient system of sliding drawers for items of various sizes. You won't find any kind of water or ice dispenser, but there is a built-in ice maker, digital temperature controls (interior) and an alarm that sounds if the door is left open too long.

Performance

Keeps its cool. In several professional tests, the LG LDC24370ST refrigerator does a great job of maintaining a constant temperature in both the fridge and the freezer. At CNET, Ry Crist says, "The LG LDC24370ST keeps remarkably consistent temperatures throughout both the fridge and freezer compartments." Matthew Zahnzinger at Reviewed.com concurs, saying, "Temperatures in both the fridge and freezer were exceptionally consistent over time." It also earns Excellent scores for temperature uniformity and thermostat control at ConsumerReports.org. We saw a couple of owner comments saying that the icemaker can be loud, though most owners consider noise control overall to be excellent and the fridge earns the highest score in that regard in expert reviews.

Efficiency

An energy sipper. This refrigerator is extremely energy efficient for a bottom-freezer and is Energy Star Certified as well, with an annual estimated energy cost of $73. In testing at Reviewed.com, it used minimal energy even with the icemaker running, and it earns Excellent scores in for energy efficiency regard at ConsumerReports.org.

Appearance

Small but sleek. At just under 33-inches wide, the LG LDC24370ST is narrower than most French-door or side-by-side fridges, making it a better fit for many older kitchens. But, in spite of that smaller footprint, the 24 cubic foot capacity is plenty generous for virtually any family, reviewers say. The stainless-steel finish adds a touch of class, but can also be a bit of a finger-print magnet. If you prefer, the same refrigerator is available in smooth white as the LG LDC24370SW ($1,700).
